Tips for Using Your Card
-
If you've never logged in to your account before, your username is the 14-digit number on the back of your card (enter it without spaces) and your PIN should be the last 4 digits of your phone number.
-
If you've forgotten your PIN or it isn't working, please call the library at 508-867-6339 to have it reset.
-
If you'd like to change your PIN, login as you normally would and navigate to "Account Settings." Under this tab, click on "Reset Password."
-
You may request items - such as books, audiobooks, DVDs, CDs, video games, periodicals, and more - from other libraries (this is also known as "placing a hold"). Please contact the library if you need assistance.
Loan Periods & Fines
You may borrow up to 50 items at one time with your library card. Most items have a 3-week loan period and will be automatically renewed one time for 3 more weeks. Other items have a 7-day loan period and will be automatically renewed one time for 7 more days.
The Merrick Public Library does not charge or collect fines for overdue materials. Please note that items owned by other libraries may possibly accrue fines, however, if you return these items to the Merrick Public Library, the fines will be waived.
Items that are overdue for more than 28 days will be marked as LOST in the library system and a bill will be automatically applies. Bills for lost items will be waived when the material is returned in good condition. If the item is lost or damaged, we will accept a replacement copy in new or gently used condition. Lost or damaged items belonging to another library are subject to that library's policies.
Blocked Cards
If your card is blocked, you will not be able to place holds or checkout materials. There are a few reasons your card may be blocked:
-
Your Library Card is Expired - Library cards expire every two years. You may renew your library card in person or over the phone (508-867-6339). The library will confirm that we have your most current address, phone number, and email on file, and your library card will be renewed for two more years.
-
You Have Material(s) in LOST Status - If you have a library item that is more than 28 days late, it is considered lost, and the item must be returned in order for you to continue using your card.
-
You Have $10 or More in Fines - Returning overdue materials will waive the fines associated and allow you to continue using your library card.
